Laura E. Hokanson, CPA

Laura E. Hokanson, CPA, is an audit manager for FredrickZink & Associates, performing audit, review, compilation, and consulting services to a variety of businesses in the Four Corners Area, including not-for-profit entities, construction and construction related business contractors, employee benefit plans and homeowner’s associations.

Laura has used her combination of over a decade and a half of public accounting and teaching experience to provide new and growing businesses with a broad variety of creative and practical accounting and business services. Laura is also a QuickBooks Professional Advisor, and has worked with a variety of other accounting software packages, including not-for-profit and construction specific packages, which allows her to provide her clients with a variety of accounting software consulting services.

Laura works toward improving her client’s operating efficiency and effectiveness by systematically identifying, assessing, and providing the consulting, accounting, and business service needs of her clients. Calling upon her decade and a half’s experience in the not-for-profit and construction industry, Laura tailors her business solutions to meet the unique and frequently changing needs of new and growing businesses.

Locally, Laura is a charter member of Professional Women in Building, a women’s organization associated with the Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado, the treasurer of Manna Soup Kitchen, and has authored and taught a financial management workshop in a local church in Durango. Laura is also a member of the Colorado CPA Society and is licensed in Colorado, New Mexico and California.

Prior to joining the firm in mid-2008, Laura taught client’s accounting staff and in-house training for staff accountants while working in California, and Managerial Accounting at the University of Saskatchewan while obtaining her master’s degree.

Laura received her Bachelor of Science degree, with a concentration in accounting, from California State University, Sacramento and her Masters of Science degree in accounting from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Among her notable honors, she was the recipient of a 1994-1995 Fulbright Scholarship to study and conduct research in Canada.

Laura enjoys participating in living history events, quilting and hiking in the mountains surrounding Durango.
