Sidny K. Zink, CPA, is an Owner Emerita of FredrickZink & Associates, PC, and key to the development of our audit practice and quality control framework.  She participates in some capacity in all attestation engagements (primarily audits and reviews) undertaken by the firm. This opportunity to read and analyze the financial statements of many different operations enhances Sid’s ability to evaluate a businesses’ financial condition and advise its owners and managers. Sidny is dedicated to the wellbeing of the firm, for now and for the future.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Sid has been a practicing CPA since 1978. Prior to joining FredrickZink & Associates in 1991, she was a senior audit manager in the Denver office of a national public accounting firm. She has a broad industry background with a strong emphasis on the non-profit segment as well as the construction and contracting industry.

The Governor appointed Sidny to the Colorado Transportation Commission in August 2013.  She represents Transportation District 8, comprising 13 counties in southwest and south central Colorado, from San Miguel to Alamosa.  Hers is the only District that also includes two Tribal Nations.

As chair of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants in 2010-11, Sidny served a three-year term as a Member of Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants speaking for the profession in legislative and regulatory matters.  Wanting to stay connected to the profession at the national level, in 2013, she volunteered for, and was appointed to, the AICPA Joint Trial Board, where she continues to serve.

For three years, Sid was Chair of the Not-for-Profit Committee of the Colorado Society of CPAs. The committee addressed new and controversial issues facing non-profits and monitored and advised both public and private accountants working with them. Recognizing the growing number of organizations seeking A-133 “Single” audits, Sid met the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements of the Office of Management and Budget, qualifying her to perform the intricate and demanding audits. She was also qualified to perform audits under specialized HUD and FHA audit guides and has extensive experience with IRS Form 990 for non-profit organizations.

Sid has long been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants where she has served as a director and chair of the audit committee, and chair of the Continuing Education Board.  Her dedication to the profession remains.  Sidny was awarded the 2014 Citizen of the Year by the Durango Chamber of Commerce.  She enjoys participating in Toastmasters and is an active member of the business and political community. Sidny was elected to Durango City Council for the 2004-07 term, serving as Mayor in 2007.  She is a member of the Colorado Forum and currently serves on three non-profit boards as well as the board of a commercial enterprise.
